Uniting for excellence: Askham Place and Askham Court merge to enhance care quality

October 18, 2024

At Askham Rehab, our unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality and consistency of care remains at the forefront of everything we do. That is why we are excited to announce that two of our key facilities, Askham Place and Askham Court, have officially merged under a single Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration. This significant change directly impacts our rehabilitation services, and moving forward, the unified facility will be known as Askham Court. Read more to find everything about this key change.

Elevating the care experience at the New Askham Court

Following recent refurbishments, the new Askham Court boasts 32 thoughtfully designed, single-story rooms. Each room is equipped with an accessible private ensuite and modern amenities like overhead ceiling hoist tracks. Residents enjoy direct access to tranquil courtyards and surrounding grounds, creating a peaceful and welcoming environment.

The facility is designed to offer both intensive short-stay neurorehabilitation and long-term care. Our short-stay wing focuses on providing targeted rehabilitation for individuals recovering from injuries or surgeries, emphasising the restoration of independence. Meanwhile, the long-term wing delivers specialised support for those living with chronic neurological conditions, neuro-palliative care needs, or prolonged disorders of consciousness (PDOC).

This unique setup allows residents to transition smoothly from short-term rehab to long-term support—all within the comfortable and familiar environment of Askham Court.

A unified approach for enhanced care

The unification of Askham Place and Askham Court is a significant milestone for us. By bringing these two homes together, we are enhancing continuity and consistency of care, ensuring that our residents are supported by the same dedicated teams and familiar faces. While this is a structural change, there are no alterations to staffing levels or the high-quality care our residents and their families expect from us. What this merger offers is a more cohesive approach to how we care for and support each individual.

Mavrick Leveille, Associate Director at Askham Village Community, commented:

“By uniting Askham Place and Askham Court under one CQC registration, we are creating a more integrated and consistent care experience for our residents. This merger benefits residents, staff, and families alike while maintaining the exceptional standard of care that Askham is known for. The expanded facilities at Askham Court allow us to serve a broader spectrum of care needs, from short-term neurorehabilitation to long-term support for chronic conditions, ensuring comfort and continuity throughout the rehabilitation journey.”

Enhanced collaboration and integrated care

This merger marks a new chapter for Askham Rehab, our dedicated rehabilitation service. Residents embarking on their rehabilitation journey will benefit from increased collaboration among our teams, fostering an integrated approach to care and recovery. At Askham Rehab, our multidisciplinary team is committed to providing personalised, goal-oriented rehabilitation aimed at restoring independence and improving quality of life.

What this means for our residents

For our residents, their families, and the wider community, this change is all about delivering a more seamless and comfortable experience. We are dedicated to providing the best possible care environment—one where every individual feels valued, understood, and supported throughout their time with us.

As we continue to evolve to meet the needs of our residents, our commitment to delivering exceptional care and support remains steadfast. This merger is just one of the many steps we are taking to ensure that Askham Rehab remains a place where lives are transformed and every person’s journey is cherished.
