At Askham Court, we believe excellence is not just a goal — it’s a standard we strive to exceed each and every day.
We are proud to share that Askham Court, our specialist neurorehabilitation centre within Askham Rehab, has officially been rated ‘Excellent’ in the latest PAMMS (Provider Assessment and Market Management Solution) assessment by the Local Authority which took place in April 2025. This recognition places us among the top 4% of providers expected to be monitored, based on the PAMMS assessments, and within the top 1% of provides to have been monitored to receive this rating across multiple service areas (including care). We’re honoured to have the dedication of our staff and the voice of our residents reflected so positively in this outcome.
A therapeutic environment where everyone matters
The assessment highlighted the respectful, kind and person-centred interactions between staff and residents, with a particular focus on maintaining dignity, promoting independence and celebrating individual preferences. Observations during the visit noted residents were supported to choose where to eat, what to eat, and how they would like to spend their time, from dancing and singing to exercise sessions and relaxing games of dominos.
Staff were praised for their ability to recognise and respond to non-verbal cues, always seeking consent and promoting choice, all essential pillars of our person-centred approach to rehabilitation.
Highlights upgraded from Good to Excellent
As part of the assessment, a number of areas were upgraded from “Good” to “Excellent”, highlighting our commitment to always looking for ways to improve our services:
- Key Worker System: Clearly embedded in both daily practice and team structure, with visibility in staff areas, resident rooms and outlined in the staff handbook.
- Resident Involvement & Consent: Residents are actively involved in care planning, with support for accessible formats and opportunities to read and review their own care plans.
- Clinical Support: Internal PT and OT input continues to drive life-changing progress.
- Environment & Accessibility: The home is well maintained with clear signage, safety procedures and secure entry systems — all supporting safe and confident mobility for residents and staff.
- Activities & Engagement: Observations confirmed that our team personalises activity provision based on resident feedback, creating meaningful engagement.
- Nutrition & Mealtime Independence: Our chef regularly consults with residents about their preferences, while staff empower residents to remain independent at mealtimes where safe and appropriate.
A warm and inclusive space
Feedback from residents shared during the visit was incredibly affirming. Individuals confirmed they felt safe, respected, and involved in decisions about their care and rehabilitation journey. Rooms were observed to be highly personalised — one resident proudly displayed their own artwork to visiting assessors, turning their space into a gallery of identity and self-expression.
The sense of familiarity, comfort and trust throughout Askham Court is a direct reflection of the values we hold: to empower every individual we support to live as independently and fully as possible.
We extend our sincere thanks to our incredible team whose dedication and expertise make this recognition possible. Every member of staff, from clinical specialists to domestic staff, contributes to the warm, safe and enabling environment that makes Askham Court a leading centre for neurorehabilitation in Cambridgeshire.
