Askham Rehab celebrates multiple shortlists at the Great British Care Awards 2026

Askham Rehab is proud to celebrate multiple shortlist nominations at the Great British Care Awards 2026, recognising excellence in neurorehabilitation, frontline leadership, community engagement, rehabilitation catering and multidisciplinary support services.

As part of Askham Village Community, Askham Rehab has been recognised across several categories that reflect the collaborative and person-centred approach behind its rehabilitation services. The nominations highlight the work of teams and individuals who support people recovering from neurological conditions, complex injuries and long-term rehabilitation needs through innovative, compassionate and community-focused care.

The shortlisted categories connected to Askham Rehab include:

In addition, Askham Village Community has also been shortlisted for the Housing with Care Employer Award, recognising the wider organisation’s commitment to rehabilitation, therapeutic environments, supported living and multidisciplinary collaboration.

The Great British Care Awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton Bankside London on 5th June 2026.

Askham Rehab shortlisted for Outreach Community Service Award

Askham Rehab has been shortlisted for the Outreach Community Service Award, recognising its commitment to inclusive rehabilitation, outpatient support and meaningful community engagement.

Bev Contaoi, Lead Nurse at Askham Court, has been shortlisted for the Frontline Leaders Award in recognition of her compassionate and consistent leadership within Askham Rehab services.

As Askham Court forms an important part of the wider Askham Rehab pathway, Bev’s work plays a key role in supporting rehabilitation, continuity of care and positive resident experiences.

Her nomination reflects her commitment to:

Bev’s calm and supportive leadership style has helped strengthen stability across services while maintaining high standards of nursing and rehabilitation care.

Tyler Horton recognised for rehabilitation catering and nutrition

Executive Chef Tyler Horton has been shortlisted for the Care Home Cook/Chef Award, recognising his innovative approach to nutrition within rehabilitation and complex care settings.

At Askham Rehab, nutrition forms an important part of the rehabilitation journey. Tyler works closely with clinical teams and Speech and Language Therapists to create meals that are not only clinically appropriate and safe, but also enjoyable, dignified and visually appealing.

His work includes:

  • supporting residents with texture-modified diets
  • developing inclusive dining experiences
  • encouraging nutritional wellbeing during rehabilitation
  • promoting social engagement through food and culture

Tyler has also helped strengthen community connection across Askham through projects such as Food Travel Wednesdays, celebrating cultural diversity and encouraging conversation through food.

Kelly Hayes shortlisted for meaningful rehabilitation engagement

Kelly Hayes has been shortlisted for the Care Home Activity Organiser Award, recognising her contribution to meaningful engagement and rehabilitation-focused activities across Askham services.

Her work supports residents through:

  • inclusive engagement opportunities
  • rehabilitation-focused experiences
